FLUXTROL® SOFT MAGNETIC COMPOSITE IMPEDER CORES
The impeder shouldn't be the part that fails.
Ferrite impeders saturate at 0.4 T, shatter under thermal shock, and die mid-run. Fluxtrol SMC impeder cores run 5× longer, cut weld power 30–50%, and let you weld faster on the line you already own.
Documented in production at tube mills in Germany, Serbia, and the United States.

THE PROBLEM
Ferrite has been the industry default for decades. It's also the ceiling.
It saturates first
Ferrite stops carrying flux at 0.4–0.5 tesla. Past that point, current leaks along the tube ID instead of concentrating at the weld vee — so power climbs, efficiency falls, and line speed hits a wall the power supply can't push through.
It fails without warning
Ferrite is brittle and highly sensitive to temperature. Thermal shock and mechanical stress crack cores mid-run — typical life is measured in hours. Every failure means scrapped tube, an unplanned stop, and a restart.
It caps your line
On small-diameter, heavy-wall tube, ferrite saturation is often the single limit on line speed. The mill, the power supply, and the crew can all go faster. The impeder can't.
Fluxtrol SMC impeder cores solve all three.
Not with incremental tweaks — with a material that carries 3× the flux, wears gradually instead of shattering, and turns the impeder from the line's ceiling into headroom.
See how the material does it ↓THE MATERIAL
Soft Magnetic Composites carry ~3× the flux — and keep carrying it.
Fluxtrol SMC materials saturate near 1.4 tesla, roughly triple the ceiling of ferrite. Above 0.7 T — where hard welding jobs actually operate — ferrite performs about 2× better than air. Fluxtrol SMC stays around 100× better.
That headroom is what converts directly into lower current, lower power, faster line speeds, and an impeder that wears out slowly instead of breaking suddenly.
How the material works →THE SHIFT THAT MATTERS ON THE FLOOR
From unplanned failure to scheduled maintenance.
The same production line, the same shift. The difference is whether the impeder change is on your schedule or the ferrite's.
Impeder life documented at Prinz & Co. GmbH Stahlrohre: >20 hours for Fluxtrol SMC vs. ~4 hours for ferrite. FAHOP reported ~5× life in production.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Whether you run the mill, build the welder, or make the impeder.
TUBE & PIPE PRODUCERS
Longer runs, less scrap, 30–50% lower weld energy — and impeder changes that happen when you change coils, not when the core decides.
Performance & economics →IMPEDER MANUFACTURERS & WELDER OEMs
Differentiate against commodity ferrite. Fluxtrol supplies the material, the simulation, and the cooling design support to build SMC impeders your customers will ask for by name.
The technology →SKEPTICS OF ALL KINDS
Fair enough — ferrite has been standard for 50 years. Start with the measured production data from three mills on two continents.

Three mills. Three countries. Same result.
NEXT STEP
Run one SMC impeder on your worst line.
Fluxtrol engineers will model your mill setup, design the core and its cooling, and support a production trial. The numbers on this site came from trials exactly like that.
